Now there is further proof of the Cayman Islands’ emergence on the world’s healthcare stage with the announcement that Grand Cayman is to host a healthcare conference which will welcome more than 200 health specialists, reports land investment specialists Crown World ().

The annual Caribbean Health and Research Council/Caribbean Public Health Agency (CHRC/CARPHA) Research Conference is the largest health research conference in the English-speaking Caribbean and this year the Cayman Islands have been chosen as host country. African Safari Vacations

Africa is a continent with diverse and rich resources, and to explore such a vast region, a traveler can undertake either a relaxing campfire vacation or an adventure wildlife tour. Safari vacations are not just restricted to game reserves; in fact, they offer a complete package where one can relax in the slower and quieter environment of the wilderness, far from the hectic world of the city life.

Although game viewing is the core of safari vacations, you may also indulge in diverse activities such as ballooning, birding, canoeing or interacting with the local peoples. Many safari lodges also offer guided nature walks that provide interesting information about indigenous plant species found in Africa. Safari lodges, which are also known as ‘bush hotels’, offer a quintessential African experience, and most travelers would love to stay in such a lodge during their African vacation. Most of these safari lodges offer amenities at par with urban hotels, and include all meals and activities.

While on an African safari vacation, one should be updated about the weather conditions of the region. Generally, national parks are best visited in dry seasons when the roads are easier to negotiate and the wildlife tends to congregate at waterholes. However, some parks, like Serengeti and Kalahari, are at their best during the rainy months, when migrating herds trail over grasslands that are completely waterless in the dry season.

Some of the popular safari vacation packages are Kilimanjaro Climbs, Rail Tours of Africa, Family Safaris, Walking Safaris, Escorted Holidays, Flora & Garden Holidays, Spa Destinations, Golf Safaris, Fly-In & Transfer and Adventure Safaris. A traveler might choose any of the above-mentioned safaris; however, in order to spot wildlife during your tour, it is advisable to book a safari that includes a ranger and tracker in the deal.

Rare Birds Of The Galapagos Islands

Warm waters meet cold waters, and penguins swim with flamingoes. It sounds like a dream, and it is. It is the Galapagos Islands. Here, where the volcanic land rose from the sea and at the confluence of the cold Humboldt stream and the warm El Nino currents, you will find a breathtaking array of birds, many of which exist no place else on earth. The Galapagos Islands have long been a bird watchers paradise, and in fact, Charles Darwin was fascinated by the endemic species and the adaptations they made to live on the unpredictable and often harsh climate of the Islands. You cannot help but be fascinated by these great birds, too.

Where should bird lovers go to see rare and exotic species? One could do quite well simply looking out the window of a Santa Cruz hotel (one of the few places visitors can lodge on the Islands), but by all means, go out and have an adventure. Genovesa Island, also called the bird island, is home to frigate birds, nocturnal swallow-tailed gulls, red-footed boobies, noddy terns, lava gulls, doves, Darwin finches, and a host of tropic birds the likes of which most people never see outside of an aviary.

Other species that you can spot around the Islands include the waved albatross, blue-footed booby, flightless cormorant (whose adaptation to the Islands included becoming powerful swimmers at the expense of their ability to fly), brown pelican, penguin, flamingo, great variety of finches and petrels, herons, egrets, ospreys, hawks, cuckoos, owls, warblers, and more. If youve been keeping a list of exotic birds to see in your lifetime, get ready to cross some of them off.

The birds of the Galapagos provide a rare treat for nature lovers, but many of the species are near-threatened, endangered, or severely endangered. Being aware of this and being cautious not to step off marked trails, stress or scare the wildlife, including the birds, refraining from feeding the birds, and respecting that this wonderfully exotic world is their home helps ensure that we have the luxury of seeing rarities of nature. The least we can do is to return the favor of their hospitality by being gracious guests.

There is no other place on earth like the Galapagos Islands; this is not a mere vacation destination. This is a destination for fulfilling your need to discover and to experience nature much more closely and intimately than you would have thought possible.

A Guide To Hotel Linen Sizes

Hotel quality bed linen, duvets and towels are a cut above the rest and thats why hotel rooms always have that sumptuous, luxurious feel. However, how do we know what the industry standards are to make your hotel room so comfortable?

Bed Linen:
Bed linen in hotel rooms has a lovely, luxurious feel and this is often down to the thread count of the linen itself. The higher the count of the threads in the item, the softer and more comfortable the bedding seems to be. The thread count is the number of fibres horizontally and vertically inside a square inch of the material and the higher this is, the better the quality. Hotel bed linen has a thread count of around 300-400 threads.

This then fits over the beds in the room, of which there are a number of different sizes. The exact measurements may differ slightly from one manufacturer to another.

UK Bed Measurements:

Single: Fitted Sheet – 90 x 190cm; Flat Sheet – 180 x 265cm; Duvet Cover – 137 x 203cm

Double: Fitted Sheet – 141 x 196cm; Flat Sheet – 230 x 275cm; Duvet Cover – 198 x 203cm

King size: Fitted Sheet – 152 x 200cm; Flat Sheet – 275 x 280cm; Duvet Cover – 244 x 234cm

Super king size: Fitted Sheet – 183 x 200cm; Flat Sheet – 305 x 305cm; Duvet Cover – 270 x 234cm

Towels:
Towels are also subject to specific requirements for hotels and the width of the cotton towel or its weight is usually measured in GSM, this is grams per square inch. Low quality towels can have a GSM of 200. However, towels in hotels generally have a GSM of at least 600 and up to 800. This ensures they are more absorbent and also softer as there is more cotton to absorb the liquid.

Bath towels in hotels usually come in four different sizes. Again, exact measurements may vary.

Types of Towels and Their Sizes:

Large towel – 100 x 178cm

Medium size bath towels – 70 x 137cm

Small size hand towels – 50 x 100cm

Smallest size towels – 33 x 33cm

Duvets:
The duvet in hotel rooms is usually made from quality natural materials. The tog is how the duvets insulation is measured, and doesnt signify the thickness of the duvet as many people think. This is because different fillings may have the same tog, but differ in thickness.

Togs generally come in six sizes 4, 7.5, 10, 10.5, 12 and 13.5.

Typically, a 4 tog duvet is used for the warmer summer months, whereas the 10.5 tog and 13.5 tog are used for winter months.

So, now you understand the different sizes, thicknesses and materials used by hotels you can buy all your linen, towels and duvets with confidence.

Does Your Vacation Planning Always Go Wrong

A vacation should be something that you can look forward to and enjoy. If you find that you have a lot of disappointing vacation experiences, then it’s likely that things are going wrong in the planning stage.

This may be negative news for you on a number of different levels. There’s a good chance that you don’t currently spend much time planning, or that you don’t really enjoy the whole experience. What this means is that you are now faced with the prospect of doing a lot more. That probably doesn’t sound like particularly good news.

Let’s start by saying that I think that things may be a lot better than they seem. The reality is that planning a vacation can be a lot of fun, enabling you to really explore your options. Indeed, you’ll find that all of this planning will help to enhance your travel experience.

You’re also fortunate to have a lot of information available to you. Your previous vacation planning experiences may cause you to doubt that this is the case, but the reality is that the Internet brings us an enormous amount of information.

We can quickly investigate particular locations and then look to consider the accommodation that’s on offer. Many accommodation websites, for instance, will offer us complete information on facilities, as well as a wide range of photographs. In some senses, it could be said that there are few excuses available for not having some knowledge of what we will find on arrival.

It is true, however, that such official websites won’t always give you the full picture. This is why it’s always useful to take a look at what real people are saying. What this means is that you can use popular review websites to get an honest opinion of places, people and hotels.

By putting all of this information together, you can start to build up a real picture. You’ll have the information that you need to be able to plan your vacation properly. You may be wondering why you are currently unable to get the results that you require.

It may be the case that you tend to cut corners, or to carry out your vacation planning in something of a hurry. The best option is usually to make sure that you have plenty of time and to ensure that you’re able to plan a vacation, without feeling the need to rush.

There’s no reason why you should suffer with poor quality vacation experiences. It’s simply a matter of getting the planning stage right.

The Hidden Holiday Gems Of Europe

Are you tired of hearing about the same places in Europe? This is a large and diverse continent. There are plenty of great cities and holiday destinations, so there’s no need to visit the same places at everyone else.

That doesn’t mean that you can’t have a great holiday in Paris, for instance. On the contrary, it’s a great city and you’ll have great fun there. But you’ll also find that it’s busy with other tourists and you might like to try some new places, rather than keep returning to that city.

So where should you go instead? It really depends on what you’re looking for when it comes to having a great holiday, so let’s look at some options.

If you want to see some great scenery then you’ll be spoilt for choice in Europe. Norway certainly takes some beating, although visitors to Iceland might disagree. In both countries you’ll get to see that colder climates can still lead to great holidays.

Spain and Italy also have an enormous amount to offer. When many people think of Spain they tend to focus on the crowded coastal resorts. Although many people love to visit such resorts, if you want to visit the real Spain then it makes sense to head for the interior. Once there, you’ll find small villages that have hardly been touched by tourism.

Great scenery can be stunning, but you may also want to visit places where you can find a lively atmosphere in the evenings. The city of Galway, in Ireland, might make an excellent choice. Located close to some of Ireland’s most spectacular scenery, you can spend time in the city and experience some of that country’s world famous hospitality.

As you can see, there’s no need to stick with the same old holiday resorts. Take a look at a map and try and pick out some new locations. Holidays are a great way to relax and to broaden your horizons.

“Every year,” Martin adds, “my wife and I visit Sarasota for this amazing beach. We’ve experienced beaches throughout the world. By far, Siesta Key offers the most beautiful white soft sand; it’s always cool & very clean. The blue-green almost is so glassy, warm and clear.”

Siesta Key appeals to all age groups:

*Kids love the water – roughly 3′ deep and mostly calm as far as 100′ from shore.
*Kids also enjoy digging in the sand.
*Older kids hang out near the sand volleyball courts or throw footballs and frisbees in expansive areas between Pavillion and water.
*Adults set up tents and beach chairs near the water, watching kids play and passersby stroll, jog & bike along the water’s edge.

Winner of the “world’s finest, whitest sand,” Siesta Key (Public) Beach extends along a half-mile of the most pristine white sands in the world. There is no sand comparable to Siesta Key’s. Even under the burning subtropical sun, it remains cool to the touch. Siesta Key has received many honors for its powdery white-sandy beaches including recognition as one of Americas Best Beaches,” Third Best Walking Beach in the USA by USA Today International Edition, and The Best of the Best Sand by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.

There is endless room to walk, plenty of room to find a spot to hang out for an entire day, over 800 public parking spots that fill quickly, and nearby Siesta Village with shops and restaurants.

Waht About The Canary Islands

Located off the northwestern coast of Africa, the Canary Islands are one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet, especially with Europeans.

The seven main islands that make up the Canary Islands are well spaced out so that it is only a day’s sail between most of them. The Islands are part of Spain but they’re located much closer to Africa than the Spanish mainland.

Known to the ancient Greeks as The Fortunate Islands, the Canary Islands are indeed blessed with exuberantly green landscapes and a perfect temperate all year-round.

All the Canary Islands are like small isolated continents. These islands are best known for twelve months of glorious sunshine, making them an ideal destination for holidays throughout the year. Since the Canary Islands are a major European tourist destination, all the major islands have well-developed communication systems, airports, and ports.

Travelers should note that, although part of Spain, the Canary Islands are outside the EU trading zone.

Most people in the US have no idea where the Canary Islands are, and are afraid to show their ignorance by asking. They are part of Spain but they’re located much closer to the African cost than the cost of Spain.

Featuring approximately 26 species, the Canary Islands are one of the world’s best and most popular regions to watch whales and dolphins. Accepted history is, that the Canary Islands are named after the dogs, while the birds are named after the Canary Islands.

In recent years Gran Canaria has also emerged as an up and coming destination for a Canary Islands golf holiday.

Thinking of a holiday in Canary Islands? There are plenty of self-catering villas and apartments available for holiday and vacation rentals on the islands, all year round at very competitive prices.
